Description:
A very attractive Newcastle Creamwear mug printed in polychrome with the Shipwright's Arms. Their shield, supported by shipbuilders, holding tools of their trade, shows a man-of-war, lacking masts, in a dry dock, beneath the cross of St George. The crest is Noah's ark and the motto 'WITHIN THE ARK SAFE FOR EVER' all incorporated below the tree of life. Sublime!
Circa 1790
Approx 5 inches (125mm) tall.
In good condition throughout, save a repair to the rim.
